What was the point of Rasen-Shuriken

Right guys, just wanted to make a quick discussion thread about the need for Rasen-Shuriken or naruto learning nature manipulation at all. I was reading through the Hidan / Kakazu arc (one of my favourite arcs ever btw!) and then I realised, it was all pretty pointless. Granted it was valuable against pain but now Naruto has BM and Sasuke has EMS I can just see the two being spammed, especially when the two have perfect control over them!

What do you think, do you reckon either Rasen-Shuriken or Chidori will be used in the final fight between the two, it seems like a lot of the things have learnt will be pointless, especially summoning!

Haha sorry, I wish I could use the English is poor excuse but I guess I am a bit tired I mean, everything naruto and sasuke has learnt so far seems pointless, with Susano and BM summonings and most ninjutsu seems pointless, especially when naruto can just spam Biju damas now!

It makes it seem as though the majority of the first 450 odd chapters were pointless

It was to show naruto's progress because you know sasuke's always one upgrade ahead (3T then sm, ms then km, ems then bm) so they wanted to see naruto's nature and shape manipulation like sasuke's chidori sword (not the actual blade) xd

The Rasen-Shuriken isn't pointless Naruto has been shown using it in alot of his fights during the war such as against the 3rd Raikage and Madara.

The Rassengan is like Naruto's signature technique it will never be pointless.

Well it wasn't pointless by any stretch of the imagination he needed to learn a new powerful jutsu so that he didn't have to rely on Kuramas power. You kind of answered your own question really as in if it was valuable against pain then it wasn't pointless learning it. There is no way he would have defeated Kakazu with just standard rasengans. I'm assuming you mean Naruto and Sasuke's final fight I think both will be used more than once or twice.

naruto and bee vs itachi and nagato 9 towards the end)
naruto vs thrid raikage
naruto vs madara

and thats about it

To counter Kirin. Not literally counter it, but to counter that Sasuke has this amazing jutsu.

Technically, Kirin appeared second so it's reverse, but it's basically to show how they are rising into power at the same time.

well had sasuke used it against team 7 like he was planing to he would have killed them so yeah it was shown second but it could have been first. also i'm sure naruto could use it liek a sheild or trhow it at kirin maybe during tehir final battle.

Well we know that Naruto is trying to make a Rasengan/TTB mix......However he hasn't been successful yet, I think that his prior training will give him the breakthrough he's going to need to execute this new jutsu....

I guess I completely forgot and got caught up in the recent power ups! Don't get me wrong I love the new BM mode and EMS power ups but I kind of miss the tactical side, clones disguised as rocks / hiding underground and using clones as diversions, all seems worthless with Susano
