What Was The Point Of Obito Being "Goofy Tobi"?

I know it might have been just a way to slowly introduce him, but from a character standpoint what was Obito's goal by doing this? Why did he wait until Sasori died to join the ranks of Akatsuki? Why did he act goofy, and not in his tough Madara tone?

Was there a point to any of it?

The main reason was most likely just for the plot twist. From Obito's view, the reason might possibly have been because no one would take a guy like that seriously, giving him a distinct advantage. Like I said though, the main reason was probably just so Kishi could include a plot twist like this in the story.

I thought this was obvious since he didn't want anybody to know that he's actually the one pulling the strings among the akatsuki. Only Pain knew of his plans and thought he was Madara.

What I don't understand is, why was he acting like that with Zetsu and nobody else around (remember, it was Zetsu who argued with himself whether they should let Tobi into Akatsuki or not, saying "Tobi is a good boy"). Is this a proof that "Tobi" was indeed separate from Obito at some point?

Yeah, it'd have been terrible if Zetsu had blown Obito's cover when there wasn't a damn soul around them.

OT: Maybe Obito was just insane, and felt like blowing off some stream by doing weird shit.

Kishi's method of creating anticipation. I mean even Kisame stated that it was good to have Tobi in Akatsuki to brighten up a bit, a gloomy organization like Akatsuki. This further added to the character making the audience wonder who is this freak. I mean Obito's strategies are deceptive and it can't be helped if he uses such tactics. It was probably another excuse to allow the spiral-zetsu to bring some entertainment rather than just staying idol. :yeah:
