What was the point in saving Gai and Bee?

All the characters have fulfilled their roles, what do you want them to do? All drop dead on the count of three?

Gai and Bee were going to die but Kishi saved them for no reason. Saving characters like Shikamaru made sense since he was going to be Naruto's adviser in the future and help create the new generation.

Gai surviving was a cop-out of the consequences of the Gates.

Killer Bee surviving was a cop-out of the consequence of tailed beast removal. As well as an asspull.

These two characters have no purpose in the future.

i know gai being saved was definetly an asspull, using such a powerfull techniques with no more consecuences than just a broken leg is just bs

I pretty much agree (I'd also add Onoki), but I guess Kishi didn't want to kill them off because that would mean having to write other characters' reaction to them etc. that would require the break from the action or something. I mean, even after Neji died, there was a pause for everyone to notice it and react somehow, then Naruto and Obito talked, then they attacked in the form of a giant bird. Even though, technically, it was just another death for the Alliance (where more than a half of ninja died). So maybe Kishi didn't want to write any more breaks like that.

Yeah, saving these two was a big failure of Kishi, if you ask me.
The story would've been much much better if:
- Oonoki (and maybe Tsunade) died against Madara to save the other Kages (srsly he is old like f***)
- Bee died because of removing his Bijuu (Let's be honest.. having some Bijuuchakra or re-sealing it in the jinchuuriki to avoid death is a dumb asspull, Kushina would've died even if Kurama would've been back in her as she said herself)
- Guy died because of the consequences of the 8th gate after he played out enough time for Naruto and Sasuke to recover.

That would've made Madara more dangerous than he already was.. and of course, that Kaguya-arc should had never happened. But... you know Kishi.. he ruined it.

What's the point of saving Naruto and sasuke, both were dying anyway. Been better for IT to be cast and everyone could live/dream their paradise forever.
