What was the cause of most of Kabuto's jutsu?

When he was fight Itachi and Sasuke. Did the cave had to do with most of his jutsu's in a way? If so does that affect him outside in a open area? Can he still use it? Like when he used sound stun the Uchiha bros and when he used sound Genjutsu?

And are there any instances where the Plainfield has changed the outcome of a battle?

Sound can easily bounce off of cave walls since theres no where for it to go. It sure helped him. Not enough of course haha.
