I recently came across a scan that I cannot figure out. In Hiruzen's flashback, Orochimaru was seen using some strange jutsu - but my question is. What exactly was that?

Nope, Sakura used a different seal. Moreover, Shunshin requires a Ram seal, not a Tiger one (and that was what Orochimaru used).
