What was Kishomoto thinking when he created Yamato?

But, what the heck with his eyes, seriously. Kishomoto must have been thinking something weird...

Kakashi has that Mangekyou technique, but he can't focus it well, so it's no good. Yamato is good with his wood...dunno...what do you people think?

Well Konoha is supposedly the strongest ninja village so I guess Kishi wanted to showcase the powers of another powerful Jonin. Plus with his abilities identical to the 1st Hokage and one of the few with the ability to subdue the nine-tails, then he makes for another interesting strong good guy.
