What was in itachi’s mind at that instant?

When itachi met sasuke in part 1 (and the massacre night)and intended to use mindrape jutsu on him , did he really expect sasuke to retain sanity? Did he choose to neglect the risk that his brother doesnt get any miraculous medical treatment and would remain in comatose for the rest of his life? Of course with his god-like intel he could count on experts like tsunade but the probability of them not being present/able to help was quite damn high...even so, was that really the best way to make his foolish little brother lead a life itachi intended? The fact that he treated his brother so unnecessarily cruelly seems to contradict with the statement ‘itachi loves sasuke more than the village’ . Even i doubt those acts are at anywhere near ‘love’.

Do you think theres anything sufficient to justify itachi mindraping sasuke?

Its just sad kishi turned itachi ‘good’ in such a forced and unconvincing way given the way he portrayed him in part 1.

Its called tough love. Itachi knew there were some in the village that hated the uchiha (danzo) and others so he wanted to ensure sasuke chose a path towards power and the only way itachi knew to achieve power was through hatred and pain which is the only way to awaken the ms. Itachi's actions are now protecting naruto and giving hope to the shinobi world that it can be saved from Godara.

Itachi didn't have much choice . He could not go to "picnic" with his brother and treat him like normal people show love. He had to choose a much difficult path. By doing what he did he led both sasuke and the village to a future where it is now.

There is nothing to justify his horrible actions, neither the massacare night or mindraping Sasuke and Kakashi..May be Kishi had different plans for him but made him a hero in the end.

3 reasons why he did it.

-Itachi wanted to put on an act in front of Jiraiya and Kisame. That way the leaf will still think he's an evil prick, and Kisame will continue to acknowledge Itachi as an evil person (Kisame even notes how cruel it was)

-Itachi wanted to Piss Sasuke off to fuel hatred so he'd get stronger. By making Sasuke remember the massacre it made him furious which led him to go to Orochimaru.

-Itachi used Tsukuyomi, but he held back killing him when he used it. Same instance for Kakashi, Kakashi didn't understand why Itachi didn't kill him with Tsukuyomi.

What was going through his mind: Sorry Sasuke, i'm at least happy to see that you've grown over the last 4 years, even mastering an A rank tech such as Chidori.

If Sasuke was to achieve as much as he had in the manga, it was a necessity.

By going to Orochimaru, Sasuke in 2 and a half years went from mid-high chuunin to med kage tier.

I don't get it, too.

The only way I can see is that he thought Sasuke would never go after him again or after the truth about everything.

Like, the sure of Itachi being a villain in Sasuke mind was so great that this couldn't be wrong, you know? But Sasuke end up going after the true anyway
