Katsuyu heals all
Why you say that?
I actually agree Pain arc was best.
The next arc introduced that destiny transmigration crap that ruined it for me.
I just woulda like Naruto/Sasuke to have their own issues instead of some ancient fued they have no control over.
Pain arc was awesome. Sage mode was awesome. Itachi vsSasuke was awesome.
Dont get me wrong ALL of the war arc isnt terrible. Kages returning, Madara, and Powerups were all good. Everything else wasnt to me.
Obito's reasoning to go to naruto's side were explained way better than Nagato'sthe introduction, character development and story as a whole was alright but it had several flaws to it. infact, hidan vs shika arc was very similar to it except without the bloated and up it's own ass about true peace and destiny. the pain arc, you got the atrocious copout that wasn't needed (not factoring in post plot), which ruined the 2nd half (and imo the most important part of the arc) by reviving them, then you got nagato's character easily subsiding to naruto's belief over the dumbest reason i've read, infact now that i think about it since the manga is over now, it's about as silly as obito's and sasuke swapping over to naruto's TnJ. but these reasons it's less to do with the arc and more to do with just kishi's quality in general, so i'm not negging the pain arc for that.
what I am negging, is fapboys saying it went downhill after it. which for the reasons i label ensure me that the arc(series) was already in the decline. it just wasn't obvious until tobi's identity was revealed. then you got the GKS arc. i just can't help but roll my eyes when idiots claim it's 1st part of the "downhill" of the series after pain arc. unlike the pain arc, what made the GKS arc special imo is seeing the foreshadowed downfall of sasuke that kakashi/gaara predicted since pts, and the whole corruption of the leaf being responsible. if anything, it's fondation was set up by the very thing nagato was trying to do. via: justice against the corrupt government. but sasuke haters wanna call it bad writing when nagato's role was the same ****ing reason? lmao. just wow, other than that. the GKS had impressive fighting, little no talking in the action scenes and wasn't up it's own ass about idealogy/true peace that even kishi couldn't even find a solution for.
Let's see.
1. Pain/Nagato was an amazing villain
His backstory was absolutely wonderfully-written, his motives were believable and his mindset was understandable, even while being that of a terrorist. Nagato's speech, his conversation with Naruto was the best-written dialogue in the entire series imo. Overall, the triangle between Jiraiya, the Ame-orphans and Naruto was pretty much the best-written part of the Naruto-franchise. Unfortunately it had to be retconned to fit the Madara, Bobito and Kaguya madness.
2. The emotions were perfectly captred.
Naruto's sadness and anger, Konoha's desperation, Iruka's courage, Yamato's fear, Kakashi's sacrifice, Hinata's love, Nagato's hatred, Jiraiya's and Minato's hope. Everything was perfectly underlined by the music too. I'll never forget the scene where Yamato looks at his palm, realizing that Kurama is breaking free, when Naruto almost removed the seal. No other soundtrack than the used one ("Tragic") would've fitted the scene better.
3. Powerlevels were not ridiculous.
Destroying a city was an absolute top-feat and really was impressive at that time, before everything went the DBZ-route where destroying cities is the easiest thing to do. Naruto was not a glowing super-saiyan-wannabe, since his sage-mode powers were powerful and believable, not exaggerated like everything after the Pain-Arc. Nagato/Pain on the other hand, had the Rinnegan, something mysterious and unique. The concept of multiple bodies with shared vision but only one technique each was very interesting for the fights too.
4. The anime surpassed the manga by far in this arc
Hinata's fight was handled way better, the overall quality of artwork was amazing (except for the few minutes that everyone laughs about, "my pain is greater than yours")
pain was just a pawn of Tobimadara , not to mention he got an epic talknojutsu from naruto
I kinda liked the "talk-no-jutsu". At least the idea behind it.
They were both Jiraiya's students but developed into completely different directions. In my opinion, the conversation between Naruto and Nagato should've been longer with more arguments of Naruto. I mean, why should Nagato, who walked so many years in darkness, easily stop and believe in a child with no idea how to bring peace? But then again the peace-thing was poorly executed afterwards anyway, so whatever.
Also, I have no problem with reviving everyone one single time. We lost Jiraiya just before that, who would want about 3/4 of Konoha stay dead, including Kakashi?
