How do you approach Naruto Debates?

1. The Manga Absolutist

- The Manga is absolute. Kishi is God.
- Any statement, regardless of when it was written and who it was said by, is completely true and absolute fact.
- Opinions about power levels and ranking are purely based on the manga and nothing else. There are no what if's or possible scenarios. One statement about an ability is the basis for all scenarios where that ability is used.
- All feats are disregarded completely, the manga proves the strongest characters.
- Heavy reliance on documented evidence to prove fact (databook, manga etc). No scan = no proof.

2. The Feats Specialist

- Looks up all the possible feats of each character and decides on a battle outcome based on those feats
- Tends to disregard the manga slightly and bends the story to create hypothetical situations. Sometimes goes into 'what if' scenarios
- No feats = weak character. Hype is not accepted.
- Won't readily accept manga statements at face value.

3. The Hybrid

- Uses both feats and the manga to structure an argument
- Considers 'what if' scenarios as well as pure factual evidence when needed
- Sometimes inconsistent. Usually leads to sitting on the fence with regards to opinion
- May sometimes contradict themselves

4. The Troll

- Just here for the lulz :D
- Love to anger people
- Usually quite annoying but can be funny at times

5. The Fanboy

- Puts an argument for a favourite character forward, explaining why they're the strongest
- Sometimes results in strong points which can be very convincing, forcing you to look at a character in a different way....
- BUT there are instances where it can be taken too far (lol e.g. Lord Sasuke).
- Can be stubborn at times. Find it difficult to accept defeat and observe weaknesses and flaws.
- Very persistent in a debate. Will use any evidence possible to prove a point.

I'd probably go for 2 and 3, because I'm usually trying to prove points by feats. Although I get a bit stuck sometimes when faced against anyone who falls into the number 1 category, it's difficult to beat hard evidence sometimes when it's right in front of you, so usually I lose against number 1's.

Where do you stand? Feel free to add any other categories too :D

A combination of 1 and 3.

I do enjoy starting fanboy flame wars though.

Mix of 2 and 3, but more of 2. I'm not as big a manga nut as some others here, so I get mixed up from time to time.

I'm the fangirl and troll. If I'm serious then I'm the manga absolutist.

The third choice.

Manga facts is not enough if people don't get what your trying to prove. Kishimoto leaves his manga to be interpreted by his fans. That's why, there are so many different viewpoints cause everyone reads different.

Translation is a Manga brings controversy for example.

Hashirama > Madara

Proof again?

Translation condrdicting what Kishimoto is trying to bring out. Anyone can bring up a manga page and declare it to be true. But is it really?

I seen people who are stubborn and only believe in the manga. Even though some pages don't have enough information and pages are conflicting with another. Which causes flames and people saying read the manga! Well which one would you prefer?

Translations cause controversy. Is my point. And unless we actually come to an agreement there will always be conflict.

I'm more of "The Hybrid", but I rarely, if ever get into in an actual debate on this site. I don't that actually occurs here for the most part.

I'm definitely a 3, though I do tend to favor feats sometimes in a debate. Sometimes the manga translations are a bit misinterpreted, leading to a lot of misunderstanding amongst other debators.
