What type of Jutsu is fūinjutsu?

I was reading about the destroyed Land of Eddies (whirlpools),in the Naruto world Map section, where the Red-Hot Habanero (Kusina Uzumaki) was from. It said they specialized in fūinjutsu.

I'm unclear exactly what that is... my guess is some type of sealing Jutsu like the one Kusina used on the Nine-Tailed Fox, restraining him by chains. But since she is the only person I can think of at the moment, from there, my assumption feels to loose, based on only one fact.... which got me curious on finding out exactly what that type of jutsu is....

Any help would be appreciated... from facts too just your own theory of what it might be

Thanks to everyone... I guess I shoulda known that.... since I consider myself a true fan...I thought my knowledge was extensive.... but I feel like the special ed kid on the short yellow bus getting schooled in Naruto.
