Kishi did grow with series and with the audiance, but it seems like people forget that Naruto used to be a 1st-rate prankster and due to that it allows him to think outside the box and utilize it.

It's why his bunshin feints are so good. It's why his Harem justu works.

Not really, when Kishi makes asspulls, they're usually Deus ex machina level and served to solve plot problems. This was for humor and to show that Naruto stays true to it's roots, despite the themes being darker.

Whether is worked on Kaguya or not is irrelevant as it changed nothing and served it's purpose
