This implies that he's used this tech before. So the question is, why would Nagato use this insanely large scale tech before using it to destroy Konoha?

Nagato's used that tech before he destroyed Konoha, I have no idea why. So I'm asking for people's opinions on why he would use it

If he just wanted to destroy the palace and then used it on such a large scale you would think all of Amegakure and its residents would be dead

This is the only thing I could think of. Hanzo might have amassed an army outside of Amegakure and he might of killed them all with that tech

The land that Nagato came from was said to be a dangerous war torn country. If there's a war(s) going on in the country, as in plural wars, more then one, he's probably going to have an opportunity to use the nuke technique.

The thing i find surprising is that this nuke technique didn't pique on anyone's radar before hand. Even if it wasn't used on a significant target, you'd figure someone would have noticed the GIANT crater and/or blast damage.

I mean.... even if it was the village of stone, you'd think they'd say something like "there's a bomb user out there who can completely wreck a village."

Maybe its the saame reason why Madara knows him: Madara saw Uzumaki's as threat(plus he would hate Mito Uzumaki for helping Hashirama), so he asked Nagato to wipe out the Uzumaki village

Exactly, you would think that there would be someone that would know about a shinobi who can literally destroy an entire village with one tech. But instead when the invasion of Pain happened, he just went up into the sky and then BOOM! There goes all of Konoha and its residents.....
