What some seem to forget about Orochimaru.

People say Orochimaru's time is up in the manga and he's irrelevant but that's not true at all.

Out of all the characters on Naruto, Orochimaru will outlive them all due to him being immortal. One of his life-ambitions has already been reached to gain immortality, so that he might live all of the lives necessary to accomplish his task. That is why Orochimaru never really worries about the outcome of this war, except for IT, because it would stop him from learning everything this world has to offer.

He's not immortal and I don't see how someone like him, far inferior to the past three main villains and the main characters, is going to do something relevant as a villain. I'd rather he not be anything anymore because another flip flop and another major power boost would just be bad writing.

You guys aren't looking at the grand picture here. You think only in terms of how powerful someone is and if they don't have some grand badass jutsu that they can't do anything.

What happens when this war is over and Naruto and Sasuke save the day and IT is released? How many times has Orochimaru "died" only to come back again?

Orochimaru is the snake in the grass bidig his time for the right opportunity to strike. Just because he appears weak now doesn't mean he will stay that way.

I see him as being more of an ally to Sasuke if he were to be villainous. Sasuke taking out on Naruto and Orochimaru handling the shinobi around his level, possibly a few Kages with Edo Tensei. He doesn't need to be final villain to be evil anymore.

This is a battle manga. Fighting is the way they handle things. In order for Oro to be a decent and entertaining final villain, he'd have to be able to last long enough to give Sasuke and Naruto a good fight, as they WILL be battling him. Right now, Sasuke or Naruto individually could turn Orochimaru into a white and red paste, easily. Yes, power isn't what's all that's important, but it's very significant in determining the final villain, and Oro doesn't complete the category. The only way Orochimaru could is if he got a power boost, and another power boost to make another final villain flip flop is terrible writing, Kishi will just be overdoing it to milk the series.
