Okay so I used to watch and read Fairy Tail but I stopped and haven't seen it in a while. From what I remember it was a good show and I really liked it, but a lot of people said it got stupid. I'm wondering if i should catch up with the anime and manga?

I read the manga and I enjoy it . Why would you be a robot bandwagonner and follow what people say ? If you like it watch/read it.
