Toad Sage Mode focuses more on durability and physical strength. Where as Snake Sage Mode focuses more on Speed and agility. Ofcourse at base they both have the sensor abilities and enhancing on all of their taijutsu, ninjutsu, genjutsu etc.

The Toads way of teaching one to manipulate natural energy likely differs from how the snakes do it, and as such for the place Hashirama learnt it.


Needless to say, they could teach different mind sets, different proportions, and any other combination...it could even be the aspect of natural energy to focus on.
