I'll start this one saying: This isn't a Sakura bash thread, nor is a Sakura wank thread, two of the most proeminent and somehow popular (even tho it only brings fights, flames and trolls) types of threads in the base. Só please don't start neg repping me, Sakura haters and fanboys alike. This thread is about what went wrong with the character of Sakura in terms of abilities and powers, not her choices in relationships or characterization (Im not delving into that cesspoll)
So... Sakura's moveset, uh? That joke older than Hiruzen's pubes: "Punch to the ground GG". To talk about this, first I have to talk about myself. Flashback Time!!
When first discovered Naruto, ten years ago... We only had part 1 in my country, and I hated the character of Haruno Sakura with the burning of a thousands suns. I hated how childish she was, how she berated Naruto and drooled over Sasuke, how useless in battle she was... All that good stuff. And then it came Shippuden. And Sakura (in my mind at least) was suddenly awesome. She could punch boulder to the ground, have true attitude, and was part of one of my favorite battles to this day (Sasori vs Chiyo and Sakura). While Naruto came back from his trip with only a bigger Rasengan, Sakura came from fodder to a Tsunade whitout Katsuyu and regeneration. And that was really impressive.
But time went by. And Naruto grew, obtained Sage Mode, then Kyuubi Cloak, then Bijuu Mode... And Sasuke obtained his Mangekyo, then his Eternal Mangekyo... Abd Sakura did not change. While the other members of team seven had long surprassed their senseis, mixing their masters movesets with their own tale on it, Sakura stated the "light" version of Tsunade. And when the War Came she stopped being "semi-Tsunade" to become "Tsunade 2.0"
When Orochimaru talked to Sasuke that Kabuto's main downfall was trying to copy Oro instead of finding his own Path (like Sasuke) that's what I see in Sakura. Just copy+paste. And it could be só much more...

You would ask, twisting your moustache and holding your monocle. Yes, I imagine all of you like that. Shut up.
My idle 12 year old mind would probably say something like: "kill it with fire", but my slightly genre savvy 14 old mind would say: " Let her find her own path.
Naruto learned Rasengan and summoning from Jiraiya, but also learned Sage Mode from Fukasaku and to use Kurama's power with Bee. Sasuke learned Chidori with Kakashi, summoning with Oro and received Amaterasu from him brother. Sakura became a carbon copy because she didn't learn with anyone else! After the Gaara rescue Arc, why not make her seek out Kurenai, and tap into that genjutsu potential that was hyped up in part 1 and completelly ignored afterwards? She could have some sort of genjutsu a la Itachi's crow genjutsu but with Sakura petals... Why not have Shizune train her with poison clouds ninjutsu? Why not Kabuto taking an interest in her and teach her some more "unethical" medical ninjutsu? Why not have Chiyo teach her something before she died? Something that would take her apart from her "Shisho's" wing?
And since we still have the time, I want to talk about Sakura's character. Just one thing that would make her explode in characterization. Make her about something else than Sasuke. Boom. Drop mic. Seriously. During Shippuden, Naruto's character was a great deal about rescuing his friend, but was also about becoming Hokage, ending the cycle of Hatred, protect his friends... Real people have more dimensions that a single goal. And if that goal revolves around another character its an even bigger blow in your characterization...
Ok, rant over. Tl;dr: I don't like how Sakura turned out, but she could have been great if someone had the time to give a damn about her.
