Ah yes "roses". The cultural norm of giving someone you love the slowly decaying limbs of a plant in order to impress them and show them a vision of the future. I must agree with this norm as it fits the real life situation so very very well.

You start off with a rose that just got chopped off the vine and is trying to find some way to live before it dies, but it looks great during that time. Then as it discovers it cannot survive it slowly weakens and begins to die off, it begins to look bad and start falling apart. Once it has been there for a little while it completely rots out and dies, then you go searching for a new one.

XD Yup I do that at times. I prefer to give people perennial flowers so they don't die off and just keep coming back :noc:

Usually when I think of the word rose I think red but i would actually prefer a white rose way more because it seems more appealing in appearance and meaning.

To Darth... But, a with any plant when taken from its original home, yes, it begins to die. But, with a gentle touch and knowledge, it can be brought from the verge of death bak into a beautiful bloom. While, yes, it will eventually die, it's symbolic of the fact had we will all die at some point, and so we should enjoy the beauty of life, an therefore love, in that time we have. And the fact that flowers die but can rebloom from fallen plants is symbolic of rebirth and a rekindling flame that can survive.

Carpe Diem-esc, I suppose.

Personally, I like white roses, and certain tiger lilies, depending on he harshness of their coloration.

Ahh, the black rose dragon who becomes a amaryllis bomb, and the poisonous rich indigo rose, my great great aunt quite a few times used to have GIANT roses as big as a baby's head, and float them in antique glass bowls

A flower cut off from the plant will die and there is no changing that. It does not age or die gracefully it was killed abruptly before it could live a full life, sounds like many marriages.

Even a rose planted in the ground will die with time but it will last a very long time and bloom many times before it dies of old age, however that rose plant may create many more rose plants to replace it and so life continues on. It lived a long full life and died at the very end peacefully.
