What Rank Counters B Rank Lava

it was stated that only STRONG water and lightning can counter it

does that mean the same rank can counter it. or the rank above.

cause i know for a fact that C rank Water or Lightning Destroys B rank lava

Techniques are not always based off ranks. It also depends on the size of techniques you are trying to compare.

So an large enough water should be enough to counter a B ranked Lava in general, but depending on the size of the lava and water, a large enough water technique could drown out the heat of the lava disregarding the difference in rank.
