There is no "weakness" but the perfect way to counter someone with it is to use high speed movement that the user cannot physically react to.

Speed is a weakness to it, as well as as cakes absorbing jutsus.

The sharingan is an ocular kekkei genkai, so anything that obscures the vision of the sharingan inhibits the user. The information that Haku gathered from Zabuza's first encounter with Kakashi helped them come up with the strategy of using the hidden mist technique to eliminate Kakashi's visual abilities. Also, the benefits of the sharingan can be used against it. One such benefit is seeing the colors of chakra. Using the previous example, the hidden mist technique engulfs the area in a mist laced with the users chakra, blinding both regular sight, and, to a sharingan user, swamping the area in the color of their enemies chakra. Kakashi was capable enough to use his other senses (in this case, his dog's sense of smell) to track and locate Zabuza, but otherwise he may have been defeated.

The only other weakness is another example of the sharingan's own ability becoming it's disadvantage is the case of chakra moving independently of it's user, the best and perhaps only shown example being Naruto and his kyuubi cloak in stage one. The sharingan reads the enemies movements, and based on that movement foresees the next movements that would be made. Because of ninja having exceptional reflexes in the first place, their responses to attacks are often instinctive. The sharingan allows ninja to read further into an enemies attack, and gives instinctive responses sooner. Because the sharingan user is preparing to counter/dodge the attack that they see (and that they see in such depth that they are preparing more than one move ahead) the independent attack comes from a figurative and literal "blindspot," potentially leaving devastating results.

I don't think that the sharingan itself drains a significant amount of chakra from the user if they are of Uchiha descent. Itachi, Sasuke, and Obito are all often shown to have the dojutsu activated without any visible strain. Kakashi is a case of a transplanted eye (which was activated via specific chakra) that is using his non-native chakra as its power source. It was said that special chakra in the brain activates the eyes in Uchiha members, and I would think that it is this same chakra that is used every subsequent usage. Because Kakashi lacks this, he has to use his normal chakra to maintain the eye, and due to his lack of an augmented physiology (Hashirama cells) he is affected significantly more than an Uchiha.

I don't particularly count the mangekyou sharingan as the same dojutsu as the sharingan, the mangekyou being the eye that takes a toll on chakra indiscriminately (but of course, more so for Kakashi.)
