[Discussion] What next for luffy after gear 4?

Dude it wasn't just 5 punches it was like 40 min of gear 4th -.- and it's not miles ahead of doffy -.-

The manga impies that luffy was running from the strings the entire time after doffy awakened. He didnt hit doffy again until luffy got frustrated and just broke through them and hit doffy with leo bazooka. And as far as attack power, speed and defense in concerned, G4 is far ahead of doffy.

Doffy was not yonko level at best he's first mate similar to Marco.... But going back to question I want him to be able to clash better with Kings haki like he did against doffy

I think he would be able to challenge a yonko fair enough...of course he would end up losing but seeing how effectively he uses his abilities he would put up a fair fight...people assume that he can't fight a yonko because he was afraid of Kaido....ofc anyone would be afraid of Kaido who is stated as the strongest being alive and doffy knows very well about his army of zoan df userscause he supplied the dfs himself...so avoiding a full scale fight and avoiding a 1v1 battle are two different things specially when you know that you will end up losing against an opponent of that caliber.....

as far as his comparison with luffy is concerned gear 4th luffy is above his level......the fight wasn't as long as it was made out in manga......40 minutes i think thats the duration of entire fight not just gear 4th.....and if you count the actual landed hits yes those were hardly 10.......

Read theory about awakenings and devil fruit control and it talked about doffy translation of him inspecting technique, mentioning that he used haki to retain form and strength while still rubbery, that makes me think luffy is constantly using haki to stabilize the technique, I think what's next will be will be similar to post timeskip Gear2&3, greater mastery over the fruit to enable longer more efficient gear 4th, also think it means we are getting close to luffy awakening

Unlimited Gear 4 + Armament Haki + Conqueror Haki + Plot = Dead Yonko :bdpf:

That ^ plus awakening will make Luffy quite formidable opponent, which he should be when facing top brass in the shinsekai!!

Obviously his haki will just get stronger. We have seen monsters like garp or vergo who hardly used a df, and still they were super strong and fast.
If luffy's haki goes a notch up he will be able to hold his own with gear 4 itself.

People say Gear 5th or Awakening but Gear 4th couldn't work without Haki so I think Gear 5th will need to be a combination of his DF + Haki + Awakening.
