Tragedy. What made the bridge arc so good? Tragedy. Haku was an innocent in that situation and the emotions surrounding his death and how even a cold hearted killer was moved to tears is what made the scene hit home. The pain arc was so great because there was a whole lot of tragedy, but it turned out that it was all a lie, just there to shamelessly create tension while not intending to stick to it. Neji's death was tragic, but Neji had like no screen time leading up to it so it seemed out of the blue like oh here's this character from a while ago and now he's dead. After the Neji death we got more death scenes for bad guys but honestly there's no real tragedy there, they were meant to die and unlike Haku they were far from innocent and we had little reason to not hate them at that point.

Now this Gaiden helped me realize this, because Kishimoto built up this entire thing with Sarada's mom actually being Karin when it was all just a fake out for more drama bs. And look Karin wasn't just some love struck teenager she was a frothing at the mouth lunatic that was licking Sasuke she isn't just gonna give that up and accept the friend zone that's out of character CLEARLY. But here again we see Kishimoto avoiding having to write tragedy, because it would be too tragic for Karin to remain a lunatic into adulthood and ever since Part 1 Kishimoto seems to avoid tragedy at all costs. It all started with the end of the Sasuke retrieval arc with Choji, Neji, and Kiba being miraculously revived from near death, then confirmed with Gaara being revived by Chiyo. That's the biggest flaw I see in past part 1 Kishimoto's writing, even if Jiraiya's death was fantastic it was perhaps too perfect to be sad.

I think Kishimoto got scared of doing bad things to character because of backlash from fans early on. Fans probably railed him for crippling Lee so he thought I guess I can't do stuff like that. The editors got on him for killing Choji and Neji etc so he had to revive them all, after this he probably thought damn can't kill anyone or people gonna lose their shit, gonna play it safe from now on.

Neji, the hyuuga genius, suffered a fodder ass death. Kishi ain't scared. Neji could of gotten Hamura's power and be right by Naruto and sasuke fighting other otsutsuki. :( also could of been himawari's master. Then later die a tragic heroes death and give hima his byakugan bc the great creator of Naruto forgot it.

One sentence kurama taking over naruto

i mean it was so cool. And more sage stuff i miss them too. It could have been better if naruto used more frog sage attacks [not sage chakra + rasengan only]
