What makes you like a character, power or personality ?

I've pondered this subject for a while. People here seem to believe that just because a character is powerful that that makes them a good character. Often when a character gets a power up, or does well in a fight, that character automatically gets a fan base, leading me to believe that people only care about power (I.E. Kakashi, Sakura, Guy ect.). Ok, no more rambling, time to get to the point. Imagine your favorite characters, do you like them because of their relatable/likable personality or because they can handle themselves in a fight? I personally only require personality, I couldn't care less if they're fodder or not if I find them interesting (I.E. one of my favorites, Shikamaru).

I mean it depends. A characters appearance can also effect what makes me like a character. there are many other reasons that could make me like a character. But overall I would have to say personality is what makes me like a character the most.

A well developed backstory with layers and depth to them are what makes a good character. Thats why Obito is one of my favorite characters. Power just allows them to look cool, which adds bonus points.

Raw power in itself doesn't factor in, but the moveset of the character does
EX: I'd find someone who uses paper bombs less interesting than someone who uses Kekkei Genkai.

Madara has great charisma as a villain, he has a sense of humour, he is powerful, his Jutsu are awesome, his character design is great. That is why he is my favourite character.

Personality is most important. Even if a character is without power if they have influence to the story and an awesome personality and backgroud then I am golden, power is just icing.
