What makes him so special is that we have never seen him go all out. Even more so now with his upgrade.

All his Forbidden Jutsu (Likely hundreds. All this guy wanted to do is learn every Jutsu) strengthened by Hashirama's DNA?

The latest we have to go on with him is that he fought toe to toe with 4 Tailed Kurama while weakened and without any Ninjutsu whatsoever, and no Hashirama DNA. The same 4 Tailed Kurama that owned Jiraya.

He's pretty OP, WAY stronger then people think and this will be shown soon.
