On a more serious note, it takes caring and compassion to be a good man, or person for that matter.

No, being a man does not mean you have to be bigger, stronger, or louder than anyone else. I've met men with nothing going for them, but they were 10x better than a stereotypical "Real man".

Quite frankly, all that really matters when it's all said and done, is what people think of you. You won't be taking your job to the grave, or your muscles, or your "Manliness". But your name goes with you.

What makes a real person is what your name means to other people. When they see that name, what will they think?

What do you want them to think?

Whatever it is you want them to think, is what it takes to be a real man. (Person)

They're very rare, but you can sometimes spot one in the deep forested areas, they're often loggers these days, but the man is the one thats gone off to log a section by himself.

I think that to be a man means knowing how to treat the people around you right, and especially knowing how to treat your girl.
I've noticed that macho men who are all about image tend to have shallow relationships with little depth apart from in bed. The deepest relationships are with the real men, who see the relationship as a way to be with the person they love and who they love everything about. A woman is more than just a hot body, real men are those who look straight past that and love the girl inside, and they treat her right, damn it.
And not just women, a real man should look at everybody around him and think "These are my equals, every one of them." Without that, you just have a child in a man's body who thinks he's hot stuff.

Then what about men who have accidents and they get their penis cut off or it doesn't function well? There's more to being a man than just what you have in your privates.
A real man is one that's respectful, treats his wife and kids good, gives them love and provides money/food etc.. for them. If the man's single, then he's just all that but with people.

Still, a man is just a man- we're all different so there isn't a wrong or right answer.
I hate stereotypes that say "men don't cry, men cant show their joy by being extremely happy, men cant watch this and that,men cant learn how to cook or clean or they shouldn't" that's just like saying women cant be in the arm because it's violent or cant play sports because all sports are for men.

I cry, I cook, I clean, I watch some tv shows that can be calcify for just women, I don't mind any of that because I'm secure of who I am and at the end of the day, I also enjoy watching sports, being crazy with my friends, playing video games, being lazy just like any other guy.

A real man is someone who can balance work and family. A man too consumed by his worldly pleasures will lose a moral sense, be overrun by work and pass day by day not giving much respect to the world and people around them. Someone who manages time to fit in family, including their own children and partner and parents and relatives will create a sound environment for themselves. It will also ensure the man's personality is heading in the right direction, if he has a loving family, then people will acknowledge the fact this man has the considerable qualities that people respect.
