what makes a good villain

I want to know because I plan on make a small comic series base off of my pets. It will be called the furry four.
The main villain Is half human half mutant half alien. His Name Thomas James Edwin or as he now calls himself Koto.

There are tons of villain characteristics. Do you want a coward, who only succeeds via the work of others, but leaves when any threat to himself arrives? Or a villain who does all of the bad deeds himself, who fights the heroes with no need for mooks?

Do you want a villain who never lies, but still manipulates the heroes? Or one that lies constantly, only to throw in an incredibly important truth?
