Just a possibility. I personally think he's the Sage's elder son, but some Uzumaki theories have been floating around, and some of them actually make sense.

I think he is sage of six paths, and I think he never died. He walked around, seing people fight, seing hatred etc. I think he decided to do what HE wanted; making the ultimate peace.

I guess he went through some events in his life that no matter what he did he couldnt see any good so he realised there is no such thing as peace and never will be so he has his own plan to bring about this change no matter how extreme it is. He looks old so from past experiences he is justifying his plan for peace.
