What made Hiruzen choose Orochimaru as a Hokage candidate?

So, we know that Orochimaru was considered a Hokage candidate (before Hiruzen found out about his experiments).
We know that Orochimaru was a once-in-a-millenium genious, but come on. One does not become a Hokage without being extremely powerful (In Tsunade's case - it's Medical Jutsu).
Moreover, Hiruzen didn't know about Oro's forbidden jutsu, his research, his immortality - he probably didn't even have it back then.
And ofc Minato was there, Jiraya was there, Tsunade was there. But Hiruzen chose Oro. It means that Oro must have some extremely powerful jutsu in his arsenal that we haven't seen yet, something topping SM and FTG.

I wonder if we're ever gonna see all that power that made him the best Hokage candidate out of the whole Konoha, power and genious surpassing everyone of his time.

Yeah, it'd be cool if we could see Oro's story. Actually, we know almost nothing about him.

IN Minato's case..It is not that Oro is stronger than Minato,he is too young to be a Kage that's it

In Jman's case : Saru know that he is not interested in that kind of Stuf & it is also not Bcoz Oro is stronger, Oro is a better choice than Jman when i comes to Hokage ...

I don't think that he was chosen because of power alone,

Jiraiya is stronger than oro but it seemed that hiruzen liked oro more and it was said that oro was his favourite student.

Minato was is not yet old enugh to be a hokage and am not sure he was as strong then.

Oro doesn't have a jutsu that is greater than SM or FTG. If he did have why then would he be looking for a body strong enough to handle SM
