The prophecy says "the kid will play with all beasts" or something. If Ashura already had all tailed beasts, then he is the prophecy child and not Naruto.

Theres a reason we call it Avatar instead of bijuu mode. Hago split the juubi up right before he died and Indra and Ashura are already fighting at the time.

Its just Ashuras sage chakra.

Although, the design is solely based on Narutos kyubi mode. Why? Because kishi was running out of ideas.

In my opinion it's neither, ashura probably didn't use any bijuu remember how hagoromo had the floating truth seeking balls too? I think you just need massive senjutsu to utilize the truth seeking balls. The chakra could be melded into the beast you see juust like how susano is a spiritual manifestation of uchiha power, the avatar is a manifestation of physical raw energy. It makes sense susano is a spiritual warrior while that beast is a physical realm (temporal) beast, man vs beast kind of makes sense.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's borrowing chakra but I don't think so his power alone was said to revival his brother's and vise versa. Maybe the ninshu markings are just normal him it's easily to mold physical chakra into anything watch I bet ashura had sage mode that's why we all saw senjutsu susano on sasuke gave susano those marking that's how it happened most likely.
