And what would you do in Sasuke's place?

He did it for the greater good of the village, preventing Sasuke´s death in the process, so in my opinion, what he did was a good thing (prepare for people who say he´s a heartless murderer, maniac, etc).

As for Sasuke, it was only natural for him to hold a grudge and wanting to kill him since he did not knew the circumstances of the attack.

we still don't knows the full story so can't really say. logically it's absurd to kill innocent women and children for the crimes commited by the clan.

When it comes down to it, I view things more like Hashirama and believe there's always another way. However, regarding the circumstances and the fact that it was what everyone believed was the only way to prevent a war where thousands would die, killing a small clan would to be a tiny sacrifice for the greater good of the future. Itachi knew this and it's been stated he loved Konoha more than his own clan and never really saw things through their perspective.

If I was Sasuke, I would have ran the heck out of there and reported it, but I would not have gone on a rampage and would have tried to figure out why my beloved brother would do such a thing. Taking into count the affect of the Sharingan and the Uchiha clan curse though, I would probably follow through with revenge no matter how wrong it was in the end, especially if my own brother was forcing me to hate him.

Killing your parents is so wrong, I know this is anime, but the best would be to try and leave, the whole clan, after explaining to them what would happen if they organised the coup d'etat
