What is your relationship with your parents?

Hey everyone, I was just curious as to how you stand with your parents and how you feel about them?

Father: He used to beat my mom severely and cheat on her, so she took me and my sister and raised us all by herself. I haven't seen him at all for the majority of my life and I don't really remember him as I was very young when we left. Obviously, he had no effect on my life.

Mother: As stated above, I was raised by a single mother as my parents got divorced when I was less than 2 years old. I love my mom more than life itself and she is the kindest, sweetest person I know. I have seen her struggle to pay for the bills so this motivated me to work at an early age and get scholarships in university to help her out. I worked in factories during my summer and gave her the entire check so she can pay the bills.

She will make sure that her kids are fed before she even thinks about feeding herself. My mom is the best and biggest influence in my life and I hope that when I get a full time job, I can take care of her for all the kindness that she has bestowed upon me and my sister.

Well my biological parents passed away I was five, but as my sister recalls I was pretty well behaved back then so I'd say I had a good relationship with them.

As far as my step parents currently we have a pretty good relationship. My step-mom is very kind but she doesn't give me enough advice. My step-dad is laid back but I feel he expects to much of me sometimes. -_-

My parents divorced when I was 8. So...

Father: Was always strict. I lived with him and my stepmother from the age of 14-18.
He and I don't talk much. I don't know why either. But I love him a lot.

Mother: Raised my brother and myself by herself after the divorce. She's my best friend.
There came a time in my life when i went to live with my father because she and I weren't getting along.
She's always gave us what she could. We never had much but I didn't care. When I was in my early 20s I watched her struggle with a drug addiction.
I ended up doing them with her. After my husband came along and saved me from myself I had to shut her out of my life for a year until she got better.
She did and I'm proud of her. We talk daily. She's the best mother I could have ever had.

Forgot to quote you earlier. Wow, you had a similar experience growing up. Congrats to you and your mom for kicking the addiction, mending your relationship and for meeting a nice guy who helped and supported you.
