Poor shino
I disagree Romance is a big enough part of the story there is a whole movie revolving around romance and a very good chunk of a main characters written charcter revolves around her "romantic" feelings for Sasuke. Id say It's a big enough part of the series for it to matter wether the romance is good or not considering the characters involved in the romance even if it's not a romance type manga.I agree. Pairings don't really have much of an impact to the plot. At the end of the day it's all fan-service, really. The constant crying and *****ing you see around here are those who are obssessed with pairings. People take it way too seriously. Naruto isn't a romance-type series after all (with the exception of The Last movie of course), so there's nothing wrong with revealing pairings that appeared to have little or no development at all since the story isn't focused on romance. What is wrong is bad development though, and a prime example of that is SasuSaku since there were times when this pairing had contradictions (how Sasuke abused and tried to kill Sakura on multiple occasions).
Kishi said it himself that he always wanted to write romance and that's the reason why he was given the opportunity to write and construct the movie's script. Hence, romance wasn't even a big theme during the entirety of the series. Action and adventure were the dominant ones back then. The feelings certain characters develop for Sasuke aren't even romantic and thus shouldn't even be remotely taken seriously. You literally see this (girls beings centered around boys) everywhere and there isn't even much of it in this series besides the occasional ones.I disagree Romance is a big enough part of the story there is a whole movie revolving around romance and a very good chunk of a main characters written charcter revolves around her "romantic" feelings for Sasuke. Even you just said that stuff like 437 and 615 WAS important for the plot - and pairing related AS WELL.I know I am probably going to get bombarded with rage at this question, but I have been curious about this for years now:
Why do so many people hate pairings? It is not like they even affect the story too much. Sure we got a NaruHina moment or NaruSaku moment from time to time. They were not constant occurrences however that happened chapter after chapter. Even when they did happen, they were generally either brief (except for chapter 615) or actually important to the story (ie. Hinata getting stabbed by Pain causing Naruto to go into a rage). At the end of the day however, the pairings didn't really have an effect on the fights or the plot too much. Who sealed Kaguya? Naruto and Sasuke did (Not Naruto and Hinata or Sasuke and Sakura, etc...). Who casted the infinite tsukuyomi? Madara Uchiha did (not Madara and Mito as apart of their secret affair behind Hashirama's back). Who defeated Obito? Naruto and Sasuke with a senjutsu susanoo covered Kurama. What was the main cause of the conflict in the series? The cause was Black Zetsu's manipulation of Indra and Ashura's descendants along with conflict in Hagoromo's family and lineage about how to bring peace to the world (and also a crazy lady obsessed with chakara). It had nothing to do with pairings. The list goes on and on.
The closest thing to a pairing that had a huge effect on the story was Obito's love for Rin. Even that wasn't really a pairing because Rin has been dead the whole series and she liked Kakashi anyway.
Since pairings have so little effect on the story, I don't see why they get so much hate. Hating pairings is like hating Shino. He is so irrelevant that there is absolutely no reason to hate him or bear much emotion to him at all.
437 and 615 are ones of the most important moments in the plot (making THE difference between the world being SAVED or LOST, due to Naruto being THE last obstacle for Infinite Tsukuyomi - and THE one releasing it as well). They do matter because who knows what could of happened if hinata didn't try to save naruto from pain

They had some development. Besides, every second of every chapter can not be fighting. Some fans also like to see a diversity of elements in a book.
I never said Sakura's feelings for Sasuke wasn't romantic, if that's what you were implying. But yeah, I somewhat agree. There were some romantic elements that made some contributions to the plot e.g. Naruto made a promise to Sakura to bring back Sasuke back which formed the basis of early Shippuden but even then that isn't even entirely romantic since Naruto later said he was doing it to save his friend. However, there were much more elements that weren't related to romance that had the same, if not more, significance to the story. Romance isn't even a driving force for the plot; comradeship is the main one.Sakura's feelings for Sasuke are written in a romantic style It can't be some little crush becuase Sakura never got over her feelings for Sasuke. And to top it off they ended up together. That's not writing some little crush that's clearly romantic writing style. Maybe he didn't intend to write romance but elements on a writers story isn't not romantic becuase they didn't intend for it to to be it is considerd not romantic when the don't put Romantic tones in it. If it where Just a crush Sakura should have gotten over the feelings she had for him and those said feeliings wouldn't have been made relevant to her charcter but it was. I agree Naruto isn't centered around romance but the romantic tones are important enough in the story line that's they shouldn't be overlooked. Especially concidering the Fact that some things in the whole series would never have happend if a certain romantic written element wasn't present. But yeah I get what your saying about Kishi my only piont is that the romance in the series is important enough to be evaluated regardless of what themed manga It is.

Romance is fine, not nessessary but it can be good - if written well.
In the Naruto manga, it's generally... not.
The only reason why couples like Kushina and Minato worked is because they're dead.
That being said, Kishi totally should have gone with Sasuhina.
