[Discussion] What is up with the flying?

Pain flew high in the sky above Konoha.
Obito is flying as well.
Onoki can fly.
Muu can fly.

Do you think they use a related jutsu?
I thought jinton made Onoki able to fly.

Nagato couldnt fly, while the pain bodies could.
I find that weird (it would solve Nagato his mobility issue).

Why cant Nagato fly? (I know he has the flying summon, but I mean, flying without an animal summon)
What kind of jutsus allow some Shinobi to fly?

Hi meow, Pain, Muu, Tsuchikage, and now Obito are all utilizing jutsus that alter particles/gravity and allow them to "levitate" against gravity. Pains jutsus all used gravity push/pull attract/deflect. chibaku tensei creates an artificial gravity field that attracts everything around it. Oohnoki and muu both use Jinton, which is stated to be "particle dismantling" jutsu meaning they can alter physics (gravity) & allow themselves to "fly". It was also stated in the manga a few chapters ago that the black stuff Obito is using is similar to Jinton.

Nagato can probably fly, since Deva Path alters gravity, it's probably that ability that allows a Rinnegan user to fly.
Muu and Ohnoki can fly by making their bodies light, and Obito can fly because he just went full DBZ.

Rinnegan control the gravity if I remember right.

And Earth style is a way for them to make them very light so that they can 'glid' trough air if I understand right.

Well first off, Pain didn't really fly. Maybe next chapter we will see Obito fly, but for now he is only levitating as well.

Nagato probably felt it safer to hide rather than to be flying around because he would still be vulnerable to attacks if he's controlling several bodies at once.

Oonoki makes whatever he touches superlight, to the point where Earth's gravity is not strong enough (perhaps they are made as light as helium). He can fly. Same thing for Muu.

My guess is the Rinnegan is able to create or manipulate gravity. Chibaku Tensei is a perfect example. Perhaps the Rinnegan user is 30% Bansho Tennin'ing themself to an asteroid in space, or maybe the Moon. That would explain the lifting off the ground but not the high velocity movement in mid-air OR Shinra Tensei'ing themself off the ground.
