No, his own arrogance and stupidity f*cked him over.
Goku beat him in their first battle.
Then the Ginyu Force handed Vegeta his ass. And Goku beat them.
Then Frieza handed Vegeta his ass, multiple times. And Goku (and Piccolo) had to save him.
Then Mecha Frieza would've kicked his ass *again*. But Trunks saved him.
He beat Android 19, but only because Goku was literally in the process of dying.
Then 18 destroyed him.
He beat Cell, but then in his arrogance and stupidity, let Cell transform. Then Cell whooped him.
Then later he turned into Majin Vegeta, got over his supreme level of asshurt toward Goku, and tried to kill Majin Buu. Nope.
Then I don't recall Vegeta doing much else in the way of destroying Buu for good, as Goku had center stage in that. Again.
