What is this "sickness"

I have been wondering what this sickness is that some people are suffering from. For instance Itachi had a sickness coughing up blood etc. the examinator at the Chunin Exams had this aswell. So did Sai's "brother". Why is there no cure for it

or use izanami on him and make him cough blood all the time so he will know how it feels and eventually cure the illness

it looks like a sickness that eats from the inside. or gives them a weak immune system kinda like HIV/AIDS its not curable (unless your Magic Johnson) and if not the Aids itself that kill you its something esle like a common cold or any other regular sickness
