what is the strongest defense of any character in naruto THAT DOES NOT CAUSE THE PERSON HARM (meaning susano is out as it harms the body if i remember correctly) I think that it is gaara's sand

personally if sasuke learns to project amaterasu all over his body without it harming him then that would be it for me..........and gaaras sand defense is powerful but not as powerful as tobis abilty to make himself untouchable.

Technically Susano's doesn't harm the person's body it only shorten's the life span of their eye's, also if chakra reserves are already depleted could cause death like we saw in itachi's case....But i would say the greatest defense would be Tobi's space barrier or dimensional barrier...Why? what is greater then a technique that makes you untouchable...? Not only that but he can use it whenever he wants, doesn't have any strain on his body or chakra..I agree the the 3rd's amour is impressive but it doesnt beat something that can't be touched..hands down! Other then that Susano's comes 2nd..and no Sasuke wasn't bluffing..it makes you literally invincible...I mean you have a dense concentrated spirit entity protecting you and not just protecting but in some cases deflecting attacks no matter what they are...

tobi's gedo mazo summon. never been broken unlike susano.

Susanno is godlike. Tobi intagibility is a great defense too

Well i would go with TOBI's phasing ability, or Minato's FTG for dodging an attack (this includes hi S/T barrier)
As to withstand a jutsu i think Gaara's Sand tops them all.
I would have mentioned the 3rd Raikage, but that's just his body, yea it's enhanced by the lightning armor but still his own body was resistant.
