What is the point of nostalgia in your opinion?

I usually don't make serious threads, but after watching some old Indian movies and anime openings like the first couple original Naruto openings (my favorite one I watched was Yura Yura), the .hack sign opening, the Now and Then Here and There opening, and the Digimon opening, I started to feel sad like a little baby. I've concluded that this is nostalgia, so what is the point of this feeling? Seems like a dumb feeling to have, and I don't see the logic behind it.

As you said, it's a feeling. Why should a feeling have a definite purpose?

I'm sure there's some BS evolutionary answer.

Why not be happy about the past/what you've accomplished? It's a little bit different in the sense of anime and stuff, but I think that concept still applies.

It might be sad but it's also nice to look back at the things you've enjoyed. Don't dwell too long though.

Feelings get in the way of stuff, like right now, I should be sleeping but I'm being nostalgic over old anime. I don't like nostalgia because I can't look at any old things without feeling it. I also don't like it because it's not as if I want to relive the days of discovering these anime because I was a little kid back then and I much prefer life now.

Funny since I like nostalgia. It's bittersweet really.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is not the nostalgia itself, but how often I feel it and I can't find out why. For example, your sig makes me nostalgic and that yugioh movie only came out like 4 years ago. The rule for me seems to be, if it's over 1 year old and I look at it, I get nostalgic.

It's the happy memories connected to it that matter. I remember racing home to catch DBZ on toonami. My cousins went mad when Goku became a super saiyain. I remember pokeman and all the fun games we played. Being a 90s kid was awesome. I look back now just to have those memories come again

Lol every single one of these threads I'm looking at relates to school in some way. Smh :T_T:

Nostalgia is a feeling revolving around a momentous memory you look back on, creating a mix of emotions like sadness- wishing you could relive the moment and happiness- thinking back on the good ol' days. It's just an emotion really..The point is simply to make you 'feel'

I love nostalgia, not only when it comes to old shows/games that I've watched/played but also stuff in real life.

While it is always great to have Nostalgia it is equally as bad to always remember it. If you stay in the past for too long you won't move ahead in the future. The way i see it, ive already had those good memories and im thankful for it, but i would like to create more of those memories for when im old, decrepit and dying of age that i can remember everything ive done up to that point.
