So today my teacher decided to talk about success and there were some things I found interesting.

Like how the world's richest man will take 226 years to spend his money if he spent a 1million a day. The guy is a Mexican. My teacher pointed out something about what he does yet the people in Mexico are poor and all that other stuff.

But I what I really found interesting was the fact that he got to the top by pushing many people down "Capitalism".

It's strange how many McDonald or Walmart workers get paid minimum wage when the CEO's are part the richest people list.

I knew about some of these things it just wasn't that lucid/clear.

Share your thoughts.

It's being happy with the quality of your life, whether that quality comes from personal wealth, fame, notoriety, generosity, or whatever you personally find to be most important.

Our world is basically like a Hell Realm.

The poor suffer for eternity from poverty, diseases and the like.

Whereas the rich suffer from Loneliness, mental disorders, etc.

Unless you break out of this materialism mentality and be a free bird.

Those who are in management are given higher pay for a variety of reasons. The first, is that almost all management staff have been working for the company for a long time, and therefore have a lot more useful experience than your standard night shift happy meal delivery boy. Also, Since the management have to deal with the up's and down's of everything in the economy (Which is, believe me, a lot of stuff), They have to outrun all other competing management teams to move with the economy. You can also see why this is really difficult by looking at a communist economy, where a central management does all of the controlling. This task though is so overwhelmingly difficult that communist economies rarely succeed. Since firm management is comparably difficult when dealing with a country wide chain like McDonalds, it is understandable that managers and executives are paid higher.
When you say "pushing people down", that is just another version of the problem of following the ups and downs of the economy. By becoming highly skilled at keeping up with the current data, the managers also have to be more efficient. The ones who don't succeed and are "pushed down" were just not efficient enough in their jobs to keep up.
That was your textbook lecture on economics. (If this was boring, make sure to say so)

Not necessarily true, besides a large portion of people (from my understanding)are somewhere in the middle of the spectrum(albeit somewhat leaning towards either side in most cases)

Yeah. Carlos Slim. A complete fat ass bigot.

One of my favorite rap artists is Logic and he said in a interview once, "You are not defined by the material you possess or the amount of money in your bank account, what defines you is how you attain them."

That being said, it's how you achieve it. Being born into a wealthy family doesn't mean you are a success. Working your way through school and to the top of the ladder in a business or starting your own that eventually folds into a multi million dollar business is success. It shows you worked for what you wanted and at the end of the road was what you dreamed for.

I haven't had a lot of achievements to boast about, but here soon I will and it makes me impatient.

Someone made this post on 11/11/14. This is what I said:

Success is displayed by social interest instead, or in spite of, monetary wealth. It's hard to quantify, because it can be made on such a small scale and it is by nature qualitative, where as wealth is easily quantifiable. Improving lives of strangers, self-sacrifice, inspiring others to better themselves and eventually help others, that is what success is. The world is bigger than the individual, and our bank accounts are superfluous in the flow of life.

To add to that I would say that money (or more so the love of money) leads to an unquenchable thirst that can never be satiated, leading to suffering. Money buys things not happiness, though both are impermanent. Attachments to possessions lead to an empty life. Success is creating a compassionate world where people can grow, and perhaps leaving a positive message for the future after you are gone. Occasionally you have people like Andrew Carnegie who used his wealth to build for the people to increase arts, sciences, and education. When the Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Price he gave his million dollars away. Both of those are successes.

That's not true at all. It's what non rich people tell themselves, along with the rich being "evil" and what not, beceause it somewhat make's them feel better among other things (it's a good excuse to why you're not succeeding as well).

"Flag waving and propaganda aside, all modern wars are wars by and for the private bankers, fought and bled for by third parties unaware of the true reason they are expected to gracefully be killed and croppled for. The process is quite simple. As soon as the Private Central Bank issues its currency as a loan at interest, the public is forced deeper and deeper into debt. When the people are reluctant to borrow any more, that is when the Keynesian economists demand the government borrow more to keep the pyramid scheme working. When both the people and government refuse to borrow any more, that is when wars are started, to plunge everyone even deeper into debt to pay for the war, then after the war to borrow more to rebuild. When the war is over, the people have about the same as they did before the war, except the graveyards are far larger and everyone is in debt to the private bankers for the next century."

"Banks do not have an obligation to promote the public good." -- Alexander Dielius, CEO, Germany, Austrian, Eastern Europe Goldman Sachs, 2010
