What is purple lightning?

Might just be the way the animators decided to colour it, Like rasengan being blue in the anime and not yellow and such.

I doubt there is much meaning behind it.

Sasuke also has purple lightning techniques now. & then he still has blue lightning techniques as well so

I'll chalk it up as it's just more concentrated and piercing. Or long range?Madara also had purple lightning as a JJ.

Makes sense. Originally using the lightning jitsu he couldn't effectively in combat. it never explained why... perhaps the unpredictability of the arc dancing or somesuch made the sharingan combat precog a requirement to land it effectively. Maybe the Purple Lightning flies truer and doesn't require such foresight in targeting.
