Losing yourself sounds terrible. Losing a lover happens and it's very miserable but it's sort of something you move on from and realize that there's more important things in life.

From experience though, me and my best friend have had numerous fights that caused us to lose the friendship for awhile. It's the worst thing, like a losing a brother.
