Having MC or Side Character as fav?

I see a lot of ppl that arent liking MC nowadays.

most MS characters are almost the same (Naruto,Goku,Luffy,Gon)

It's probably more mainstream to like the main character. Since you know for a fact they'll get more attention hence the terminology "main" character. It's too easy to like a main character cause you know they'll always have tons of screen time. A better question is if it is more mainstream for a main character or the main character's rival.

Take for example Gon, his a little weak ass shit (not in adult form doe.) and my favorite character in hxh is Netero/Hisoka
so mains don't always be favorites.

From what I've seen here in NB, I think people try to hard too be cool and like side characters and don't like the mains. I mean, if you're reading/watching a series you have to like some of the main characters or else what the hell are you doing wasting your time.

Ye i was thinking about the same thing. Myabe they like mains, but they act like they prefer side ones to pretend they are cool

Only antagonist I enjoyed thus far is Madara for badasness and Obito cuz hes written awesomely. Never had a single fav char in any manga / anime though, though Luffy is in front of everyone...

If anyone asks me whos my fav in Naruto I always name like 10 characters...^^
