What is Isshins story?

That is what I really hope to see! He sports a rag of the captains cloak over his shoulder but when would he of been a captain?

What is his Shikai or Bankai? He used the same sword slash as Ichigo but is that where the similarities end?

This character has a lot of potential, I mean he flicked Azien miles away with his finger.

Anyone got any theories about Isshin?

Can't imagine him as a stealth force guy though. Their group seems to be the stealthy one, the smart one and the crazy fighter one.

Yeah I'd like to know that Isshin's the second biggest enigma to me he's a powerful Shinigami no doubt about it... but why does he wear his captains cape like that hm? I think in a filler it was shown that the number 0 was shown of Isshin's cape I forgot what the episode is called but it's the one where Ichigo is a Frankenstein type monster Ishida a vampire...but only problem is it's filler.

However I do believe Isshin is or was the ex captain of zero squad I mean think about it he knows Urahara and Yourichi they live in the same town as him coincidence...I don't think so...but then I've been doing some thinking there are two possibilities if this theory is correct.

Also I have no doubt that he's old I'm talking Shunsei old...possibly older since none of the Visords recognized his reiatsu...my guess would be that he was promoted to zero squad as it would make sense since none of the captains have the zero squad.

Either Isshin was the ex captain or still is the captain.

I'll go with he still is the captain of zero squad...now think about it Isshin is living in a town that is coincidentally used to make the key into the soul kings realm...what if he was sent there to look after the town...but along the way fell in love.

And then we have the ex captain theory I strongly believe this one...

Since Isshin seemed to split pretty fast when the Shinigami came to help Ichigo from Ginjo.

And then we have the fact that he's extremely strong captain class at least...I do have a theory myself growing about Isshin it sounds absurd but hey it's Bleach.

My theory on him is that he is the ex captain of zero squad...however during some time he battled Juha and used the Final Getsuga Tenshou and lost his powers...plotholes in this you bet but when hasn't there been any plotholes...and during his powerless state he met Masaki and remember people this is just my own theory she's a Quincy and to me this is what links Isshin and Ryuuken together perhaps they where related brother and sister who knows but anyway years later Ichigo came...and now this is why Juha has viewed Ichigo as a special war potential because he has the blood of a Shinigami and a Quincy running through his veins.

Don't bash me I know it sounds stupid and ridiculous but how many of is in episode one thought Isshin was a Shinigami or that Aizen was the one who caused every fight Ichigo had been in.

Isshin had to at one point been apart of the mysterious Squad 0/Royal Guard. I mean why else would Tite Kubo keep his Soul Reaper days still a secret?

Look at the colors on the bottom of the captain sleeve it has purple on it which no other captains coat has color on the outside like that it must be something to do with the royal guard. Some pics of him have color on this part instead of black so I could not be specific

Also I believe he left because he used the final getsuga tenshou and then decided that he was losing his shinigami powers and left to make a family.

Why doesn't Isshin teach Ichigo some Kido? I mean seriously...Ichigo is a one trick pony with that Getsuga Tensho.

I am going to guess that he is a former captain. I think he is a former captain of the 10th division cause TK has not shown how the captain of the 10th division was before Toshiro.
