Point being, YOU DON'T SEE NINJA, they're masters of camouflage, secrecy, and surprise. Even in historical periods they rarely if ever wore the Hollywood black outfits, they typically dressed as beggars or priests to gather intel and to get close enough to a target to assassinate them. Also I hope you don't believe Japan still utilizes Ninja in their military. On a side note Ninja is the singular and plural, kind of like Moose, like get that ninja and those ninja just stole our documents.

Ninja are great but in actual use they were used more for espionage and reconnaissance more so than battle, the battle ninja is a thing of Hollywood(Not to say they didn't fight but they weren't sent in the battle lines during a war they were used behind the scenes before or after the war to sway the tide in favor of one side or the other) They relied more on poison to kill their targets then their blades which were reserved/carried for defense and escape purposes. The Kusarigama was typically only used when they were confronted by a samurai in his armor.

The three most famous ninja clan exemplify what a ninja truly is the Iga, Koga and the Fuma. I don't mean to break your ideal of a ninja, I love ninja this is the only reason I'm saying this. There has grown a great exaggeration of what ninja were to what ninja are. This may help you connect with what the ninja truly were

I was just joking with my first post because that's what ninja in Naruto are. The thing most ninja about Naruto ninja are them not wearing the black outfits.
