to the substitution jutsu?

Sorry if this thread was made before, but it got me thinking when the kage's got their s' kicked and none of them thought of substituting with a log or something. It dawned on me then that Kishi's over that level.

One more question: when was the last time you saw that technique being used or by whom do you remember it being used?

I'm starting to think Kishi is slowly abandoning the reason he started the manga

(a) to show badessry in ninjahood

(b) repeatedly show badessry in ninjahood

He's either:

(a) wanting to make his manga, although it's no longer really his, a DBZ universe

(b) where superpowers fly back and forth without tactics coming into play

I mean no one's going to need to be as intelligent now to the at the top of their class. They'll just need to be born into a "special" clan of the village and from the looks of it, the newly introduced technology is going to pump everyone up

The Nara Clan will use shadows like crazy and they won't be limited for example
Ino's Mind Control technique will be hard to escape unlike the previous time

Plus Kishi might be planning on redeeming his failed characters by giving these new ones the opportunity that of which they were deprived since the beginning

Who knows, the mini Rock Lee might just have it in him to power-up and get different hair color just like Goku

my guess is that the level of shinobi became too high so techniques like that became useless and it could also be said that they had nothing to substitute with, (war arc) i dont know why they dont use shunshin though since you could pretty much teleport and the last i saw that technique was kcm naruto

Sasuke used it Against Kakashi when they fought in the iron country
Seems you don't remember much events in which it was used since Shippuden. That was the only time right? In the Pain fight I think Naruto used it but that was about it for him. Madara is never shown using it and judging by the fact the shinobi world will soon be the same level as KCM Naruto, with Boruto getting to jonin level easily (as evidenced by his chakra manipulation proficiency) fundamental ninja techniques will become history

I don't know either. Naruto just wasn't the same by the time the war arc began. You can tell by how the Shinobi from all villages that specialised in elemental techniques and such fundamentals to escape tight situations were swatted like flies by the Bijuu (mind you, although it is powerful, it' so slow, you could form handsigns comfortably to execute a Substitution and retaliate). It was a wrong move from Kishi to just throw away his great ideas 'cause everybody liked the fact ninja could become great by training their handsign speed and all

If you think about it the substitution just can just about counter any type of ninjutsu. Throughout the manga it was used less and less because if it were to be used all the time it could render almost anything pointless. I bet kishi regrets creating it in the first place. Madara could have used it when zetsu betrayed him. Basically anyone who got hit by chidori or rasengan could have used it. It's too easy of an escape route it shouldn't exist. As long as there is an object nearby it can be used. Doesn't even use a lot of chackra smh

Always was a trash technique that led to easy cop-outs in battles. Got old so fast and never allowed for me to fear when a character actually took damage.
That was the downside but wasn't it stated it required hand signs which actually means they had to be faster with their hands than the movement of their opponents? It was convenient but also risky for the character as they had to merely rely on the instantaneousness of the tech

Yeah but I just mean visually, it's the same as with genjutsu and S/T in the respect that it does nothing for the eye on the manga panel. Doesn't make for engaging fights.

I guess. Likely we would ask ourselves why Sasuke for example has used Susanoo instead of just substitute whereas if they always substituted it would get to the point where characters can't be put under perilous circumstances

It must just be a matter of the author's preferences changing. The mangaka of Jojo changing his manga from a chakra-based brawler series into essentially Pokemon because he just got bored of having his characters fight that way. Now I think about it, Naruto's transition to tools & traps to elemental/big-scale jutsu to huge chakra tanks over the years is the same.
