How do you think the rest of the war would have gone had Luffy died rather than Ace?

Is it worth starting to watch one piece? Are there good choreographed fights? I attempted but as far as it is now the beginning just seemed a bit... Bleh, but if it gets epic I don't mind dealing with the the slow start(I've only seen like the first 3 eps or so)

If you're interested in purely awesome fight scenes, then honestly, I would say no.. it probably wouldn't be your cup of tea as far as anime goes.. (because honestly there are far more anime series out there with fantastic fights animated at the highest levels, plus they are much shorter, episode wise, than One Piece.)

But if you are looking for an adventure that will stay with you for the rest of your life, and one of the best stories of all time.. then by all means, please watch/read One Piece.

That's actually a high possibility that Shanks would at least try to..

I'd recommend reading the manga, preferably in color to help you transition between the anime and manga, and to help get used to Oda's art style if you find it to be hindering. Whenever a major event happens in the story like a fight, watch the anime episode or the specific scene on Youtube. It's the fastest way to catch up to One Piece and be able to take part in relevant discussion without wasting one year of your life watching the slow ass anime.

So you're saying Shanks would kill Mihawk too?

Mihawk is a friend/rival, Akainu is a lunatic marine. If Mihawk killed Luffy, I could see Shanks cutting ties with him, but if Akainu did the same...well, poor him.

I've never fully understood this scene tbh. Why was Akainu using Haki at all against Luffy, he wasn't Logia, the haki wasn't needed to hit him? How did Ace stop the punch from going all the way through, Akainu's hand should have kept going through and melting him?

OT: A lot of people seem to disagree but I feel very confident in saying given their depictions and reputations Garp would have killed Akainu had he killed Luffy there.
