so religion was man's answer to the things he could not explain and how they could happen.
eventually science came along and dismissed some religious feats and other stories with new understanding of how the world worked. EX.= rotation of the earth, where as before this it was just god saying let there be day and night when in actuality it is the cosmic forces in our solar system that ultimately decide how everything moves in our solar system.
so my question here is, what if science and technology as we know it today was progressed to its current form when most major religions started? This is around 2000bc to ad 500, i know some are earlier but i'm just trying to put science in religions shoes in that time period.
What i wondered on this was would religion or even the belief in gods have existed after we had this level of understanding? Also would the human race have offed ourselves by now? or would we be advanced to the point of no war and complete understanding of life's mechanics in its entirety.
my point in this is to look at science as a religion, not scientology those wacko's are off their rockers.
IF Science had been as far as to be able to give people the answers to why it rains why the sun comes up and whats in the stars, would by today, it be in christianity, islam, and judaism's place at the top of the worlds belief system and if so how far beyond our current point would we be.
this is also assuming that all wars fought in any god's name never happened, because we all had the same understanding not beliefs just the same rational capacity that today's world has over our ancestors capabilities. so we didn't massacre each other because jesus allah and abraham told us to because we don't believe in them.
just to keep this final point in perspective more people have fought and died in all god's name's/purposes than any other cause, natural death not included.
