Judging by madara saying gai almost killed him and his head was almost smashed off I think he cant regen his brain possibly.

Frankly speaking, from all we've seen so far, it is very very difficult to actually kill a Rinnegan user. There's a lot of power under their control-even life and death. That aside, i don't know if that would be enough to kill him with all the regeneration and toughness madara has shown so far...though you could still call it plot no jutsu
