I'd lose interest in the series. Realize that without him the midway plot would be useless, and there actually wouldn't be any. For a handful of us, a complex character like him shouldn't just die off. He makes the story fruitful and interesting. I don't think someone whose life was written in Hell deserves that kind of ending. Not unless it's a beautifully poetic death that gives him an acknowledged "release".
Also the memorial sh*t people do for characters is BS. Characters don't die, they're characters. When they "die", I like to believe their belonging sort of transcends to the fans that love them the most. They don't truly die, so.. As a Sasuke fan I really wouldn't be upset.
