Gets the meramera fruit??? I am not saying he will but it would be cool not just because he would be hella strong but he was soooo close Ace and it seems like he deserves it...
Also I have a theory that goes with this....I think you can eat more than one devil fruit but it can't be the same kind....look at Blackbeard he has a logia and paramecia devil fruit..maybe vegapunk's test subject ate 2 zoan type and like I said you have to eat different type of fruits....lol sorry if it sounded stupid

Plus he wouldn't be that much stronger. Cause that'd mean he'd have to master 2 things: his Haki (Luffy confirmed that it's not that strong) & the Mera Mera no Mi. Hence he won't become that strong. Furthermore, if he were to master the fruit to Ace's level, his Haki would be so shit that Sanji would be able to beat him. And if he master's his Haki, then he's just wasted the fruit.

Luffy can't eat another fruit. A crew member will get it. If Rebecca joins she will get it. Otherwise the CP0 or Fujitora will take it and give it to Garp ; he'll give it to Coby.

Tbh I don't want Luffy to eat mera mera coz he will have changed too much for my liking from a punch for punch brawler to a ore or less cliche fire element user. Red hawk and maybe a similar tech should be the only fire Luffy creats.
I really want Coby to eat it so someday we can see a mera mera vs magu magu battle.

Your forgetting the fact that devil fruit users can't eat more than one fruit. That was stated in the manga during the lattr half of the water seven ark. By Kakuzu I think.

Luffy becoming a logia would be too disruptive to his development. Like Chinjao said, he who has the strongest Haki will be the pirate king, I'd much rather see him focus on that. I'd personally like to Coby get it, so he's more of a match for Luffy when they do eventually fight.
