What if itachi had saved izanagi for madara?

The title is my question. What if sasuke and itachi had defeated kabuto differently and itachi had saved using izanagi for madara. Do you guys think it would have worked?
IMO, yes he could have gotten him and then either madara would be trapped or would have changed completely before breaking it. Also naruto and sasuke could have easily handled obito .

Madara would probably anticipate the set up.. Anything could happen, but it's too late

I doubt it would have worked. Madara is a lot more cemented in his ways than Kabuto, who was uncertain about who he was, etc.

It worked on Kabuto because he was trying to become someone else ( orochimaru) and didn't accept his destiny.

madara might anticipate but it'll be too late before he realises. i'm pretty sure if itachi is gonna use something like that he wouldn't be so careless with it to let madara notice it coming

I don't think it would work on Madara. Reason? Izanami is broken when the victim accepts his true self. This is Madara's true self so there is nothing for him to get trapped in.

Actually, all Uchiha's have Izanagi, they simply lose an eye when they use it.

Can anyone of you explain how/why you think Madara would notice Itachi setting up Izanami on him during a battle?
ot: although if Izanami does work on Madara he would probably figure out the loop on the first replayed action.
