What I truly believe Obito's motives are

I've been seeing people talk about how Obito is a crybaby, and that he got friendzoned, and how he should grow a pair, but people should realise that that's exactly what he's done!

Obito's motives go way beyond of that of just reviving his love. Knowing the Uchiha clan and how proud they were of their most talented members, they probably hated and isolated Obito for being such a failure to the clan. Also since he as a parallel to Naruto, he could have had no friends just like Naruto did and nobody acknowledged him. Apart from one person, and who was that person? Rin.

Remember Obito's infamous words to Kakashi in Kakashi Gaiden?

'Those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum' Obito believed that the key to a shinobi was not to be emotionless killing machines but to be skilled in teamwork and to always make sure they put the safety of their comrades above the mission. He hated the concept of a shinobi: as to how they were taught to be emotionless, cruel, brutal and regretless machines that killed each other.

Then came Obito being crushed under the boulder, and then of course being found by Madara:

During his time in the cave, he was being manipulated by Madara and Zetsu about how the shinobi world is full of emptiness and had no hope. Of course Obito pushed away the idea at first believing it to be simple nonsense. So he trained and trained for time he was there and pushed his body to the limit, to get stronger so that he could protect his loved ones. He had high hopes that now he had awakened his sharingan he would be able to work better with Kakashi so that they could protect Rin. But as we know the sight Obito got to was to see Kakashi stabbing Rin through the chest. This relates back to Obito's philosophy. Obito had just seen right before his very eyes, his best friend breaking that philosophy and if his own best friend had turned into trash, its clearly possible that the rest of the ninja world would.

If naruto ended up in the same situation, he had Jiraiya, Iruka, Kakashi or sakura to snap him out of it. But Obito was all alone and didn't have any fatherly figures like that. And the only people he did have were Madara and Zetsu which is even worse than having no one. Obito like Naruto desires to change the shinobi world for the better. Almost like the younger son and elder son. I believe that Obito is trying to change the world so that no one will have to go through the same pain as him and hatred and conflict will be erased. A 'dream world' in a way.

This is all speculation that may or may not be true; for all we knew, Obito had a loving family/parents, if that is the case and he went apesht after seeing his childhood crush die then he is an untenable farce of a character no matter how much you rationalize his 3rd rate tragic backstory.

Yeah but its speculation that Obito did it over rin since he actually hasn't said it himself

well thats a good point that proved obito not that evil villain.. remember we all like WTH when obito went that way because of rin? but according to last chapter it is because uchiha is a clan possessed by the evil.. so maybe kishi just gives us an example of uchiha possessed by that evil in obito characters.. hahaha.. i hope u understand what i means :ghehe:

Kakashi being Rin's murderer isn't even a factor. Obito was given the chance to take vengeance on Kakashi, although it still isn't fully justified since we still haven't been given the full story around the events of Rin's death, namely Kakashi's reason for killing her. He even went on to say that he doesn't care that Kakashi and what he did. Hell, I don't think we can even say the feelings Obito shared for Rin were actually love, they seemed to leans toward a crush that bordered on an unhealthy obsession.

Madara doesn't play a major role behind the actions of Obito either; he was trapped in a cave with him for a lengthy period of time and the situation had no effects on him. He was prepared to leave when he had enough power and regroup with his friends back in Konoha.

We can try to add our own interpretations on Obito's turn to villainy and the motivation for his actions yet according to the manga and the lousy flashback we were given, which in my opinion was far too centered around plot convenience, there's nothing more to Obito than Rin actually dying.
